EAGLE POINT ANNOUNCES A NEW OPERATING SCHEDULE
Beaver, Utah --- Eagle Point Resort announces a new schedule for winter operations. Beginning on Friday, February 3, Eagle Point will be open every Friday through Monday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. On Tuesday through Thursday, the resort will be closed or available for large private group reservations. The resort expects to be open for ski and snowboard operations during the 2011/2012 season until at least mid April, conditions permitting.
"Our model has always been to create a premier year round destination resort and community with winter operations as the core attraction." explained Shane Gadbaw, CEO and Co-Owner. "With all of the downtime we had due to historically bad weather, we thought hard about the inherent flaws in the conventional daily operation ski resort model. By cutting out the three weekdays, we can reallocate that capital to enhance the long weekend experience for our guests with low pricing and frequent incentives like gas cards and Facebook giveaways."
Lane Tucker, Eagle Point's Base Operations Manager, explained "Currently, we don't serve the "ski vacation" guests from New York or Texas who come west to ski for a week. The vast majority of our guests come from within a 1-7 hour driving distance and visit Friday through Monday. With this new schedule, we can focus on creating an exceptional long weekend getaway experience for guests in our primary markets of Utah, Nevada, California and Arizona. We are also excited about offering private reservations to large groups on the days we are closed." The resort can host turnkey private events for large groups of up to 500 people including snow sports, lodging, fine dining, spa services, conference space and transportation packages.
On December 11, 2011, Eagle Point Resort and Beaver County signed a development agreement for the ski area. "Lodging, snow-making and mountain biking are critical to our long term plans." stressed Gadbaw. "The new streamlined model will also free up time, capital and resources to accelerate plans for important infrastructure in those areas. We look forward to beginning a new development phase having spent the last two years working primarily to reopen the ski area operations."
"We never intended to be just another ski resort among so many great ones in Utah and throughout the west." said Gadbaw. "Those who have visited know that Eagle Point is a truly unique resort experience starting with the drive up the mountain from Beaver through your last turn of the day and all of the amazing moments along the way."
Gadbaw cited the investment background of he and his partners as having influenced this new model. "Makers of the great speciality products in the marketplace tend to have an extremely tight focus in their early stages to maintain an edge and deliver an exceptional product experience for the customer. Rather than continuing to follow the conventional wisdom in the ski industry of the daily operating model, we expect to deliver a better experience to our guests by managing the resort as the specialty product that it is at this stage."
The historically bad weather in southern Utah and throughout the entire west has made this one of the worst years for snow conditions on record. According to the Global Snow Lab at Rutgers University, January was the third-least snowy on record going back to 1967.
Eagle Point Resort, located 18 miles east of historic Beaver, Utah and a scenic 3.5 hour drive from Las Vegas or Salt Lake City, is an all seasons destination resort offering snow sports, lodging, fine dining, summer activities, camping and day excursions to nearby attractions like Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park.
